Our Paddles
Our Paddles
A quick guide to choosing a paddle that will suit you!
A few questions we will have for you:
Do you want a white water paddle, 'Whio' (wing) paddle, Canoe or raft paddle, Sea kayak or SUP?
Shaft: Do you want a Balanced Crank© shaft or straight shaft?
If straight shaft, do you want Carbon or Carbon Kevlar?
If white water, what blade model: Pivot, Blast or Pulse blade?
Carbon or glass blades?
If glass, what colour? Did you know that we can print a special design or logo into the blade – talk to us about what we can do.
We’ll go over all these questions in our shopping cart process or happy to discuss with you.
Here is some information to help you answer those questions.
One piece Balanced Crank©
The aim of the Rochfort Balanced Crank© shaft is to maintain a straight wrist through the catch and pull part of each stroke. This maintains an ergonomically stronger wrist position, reducing fatigue and ailments such as repetitive strain injury (RSI). After years of testing and evolution, Rochfort Paddles have developed an innovative new way to build stronger and better crank shafts.
- • Full length, continuous fibres for strength.
- • One piece shafts with no centre joint.
- • Comfortable neutral hand grips for your health.
- • Balanced Crank© for stable and equal strokes.
- • Strength you can really trust.
All Rochfort paddles are available on a Balanced Crank© shaft. Rochfort Balanced Crank© Shafts are also available in a number of different sizes to fit many common blades on the market. Contact us now to find out if your existing blades will fit our shafts.
White water blade types and sizes
Our white water paddles come in three different blade models, Pivot, Blast and Pulse.
PIVOT
Smaller Asymmetric White Water blade with slight Dihedral power face.
Specs: blade length 43cm, width 19.5cm
Blade shape: Classic Asymmetric
The Pivot is designed so that when boofing a drop you can get the blade area closer to the centre line of the boat for a straighter launch. When carving with a stern rudder, this shape presents more vertically in the water, giving a more efficient stern rudder, greater turning power and less drag.
Key Benefits:
- Stable in the water
- Super strong
- Hard wearing
- Value for money
BLAST
Large Asymmetric White Water blade with slight Dihedral power face.
Specs: blade length 43cm, width 20.5cm
Blade design: Classic Asymmetric
The Blast is a bigger version of the Pivot for paddlers that want more power. It has the same characteristics as the Pivot for larger paddlers or those who prefer a larger blade.
Key Benefits:
- Stable in the water
- Super strong
- Hard wearing
- Value for money
PULSE
Large Asymmetric White Water blade with ZERO Dihedral scooped power face.
Specs: blade length 44.5cm, width 21.5cm
Blade design: high angle asymmetric
After three years in development and specific testing, we designed our Pulse blade from scratch.
Our brief was to create the most powerful blade with no flutter and no dihedral on the blade for high performance and slalom paddlers.
The Pulse has a large "spoon" shaped face that grabs water, but no dihedral so it feathers and holds in the water allowing you to steer the blade where you want with precision.
We do not recommend this blade for your first paddle as it is aimed at a high performance level of paddling.
Canoe and raft paddle
Large asymmetric white water blade with slight dihedral power face
Blade design: Classic asymmetric
The blade features are similar to the Pivot and Blast. Shaft can be carbon, carbon Kevlar or fibreglass. Finished with a comfortable plastic t-grip and at a length to fit your height and needs.
Sea Kayak Paddle
The Sea Kayak blade has a narrow "spoon" shaped face that grabs water, but no dihedral so it feathers and holds in the water allowing you to steer the blade where you want with precision.
We are happy to discuss all of these styles and options with you.
